This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) for Simple Subjects, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) explains how and why we collect, use, and disclose information when you visit ObliviousInvestor.com (the “Site”). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Site.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly: If you sign up to receive articles from the Site by email, we collect your email address. We do not collect any other personal information directly from you through the Site.

Information collected automatically: When you visit the Site, certain information is collected automatically through cookies and similar tracking technologies, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits. This information is collected primarily through Google Analytics (described further in Section 4).

2. How We Use the Information We Collect

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• To send you new articles published on the Site, if you have subscribed to receive them by email;
• To analyze how visitors use the Site, in order to understand and improve it;
• To comply with applicable legal obligations; and
• To protect the safety, security, and integrity of the Site.

3. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with third parties only in the following circumstances:

• Email delivery (follow.it). Email addresses collected through the Site’s subscription form are shared with follow.it, the third-party service we use to deliver articles by email. follow.it processes subscriber email addresses solely to provide this delivery service. You may review follow.it’s privacy policy at https://follow.it/privacy-policy.
• Analytics (Google Analytics). We use Google Analytics to collect and analyze information about how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics uses cookies and may collect your IP address and browsing behavior on the Site. Google may use this data in accordance with its own privacy policy, available at https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of Google Analytics data collection by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
• Amazon Associates. The Site participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.com. When you click an Amazon affiliate link on this Site, Amazon may place cookies on your device and collect information about your visit in accordance with Amazon’s own privacy policy, available at https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GX7NJQ4ZB8MHFRNJ.
• Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, the safety of others, or to investigate fraud or a security issue.
• Business transfers. If Simple Subjects, LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, information held by us may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Site uses cookies — small text files placed on your device by your browser — and similar tracking technologies. Cookies are used primarily by Google Analytics to analyze how visitors use the Site, and by Amazon when you click affiliate links.

We do not display a cookie consent popup. By using the Site, you acknowledge that cookies may be placed on your device as described in this policy.

Opting out. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. You may also opt out of Google Analytics specifically by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). Please note that disabling cookies may affect certain Site functionality. Your browser may allow you to transmit a “Do Not Track” signal; because no uniform industry standard for honoring such signals currently exists, the Site does not currently respond to them.

5. Email Subscriptions

If you subscribe to receive articles by email, we collect your email address and share it with follow.it solely to deliver those emails. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email you receive from us. Upon unsubscribing, your email address will no longer be used to send you articles from the Site.

6. Affiliate Disclosure

The Site is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. This means some links on the Site are affiliate links: if you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information. The security of your information shared with third-party services (such as follow.it, Google, and Amazon) is governed by those parties’ own security practices.

8. Data Retention

We retain subscriber email addresses for as long as a subscription is active. If you unsubscribe, your email address will be removed from our active mailing list. Anonymized or aggregated analytics data collected through Google Analytics does not identify you personally and may be retained indefinitely.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the information in Section 11.

The Site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after any changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

California Residents — Additional Privacy Rights

This section applies solely to visitors and users who reside in the State of California and supplements the information in the Privacy Policy above. It is provided pursuant to the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”) and other applicable California privacy laws. Terms defined in the CCPA have the same meaning when used here.

Categories of Personal Information Collected

In the preceding 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information:

• Identifiers (e.g., email address, IP address);
• Internet or other network activity (e.g., pages visited, browser type, device information); and
• Inferences drawn from the above (e.g., general content interests, via Google Analytics).

We collect this information directly from you (email subscription) and automatically through cookies and analytics tools.

Purposes for Collection

We collect and use this information to deliver email articles, analyze Site usage, facilitate affiliate commerce (via Amazon Associates), and comply with legal obligations.

Sale of Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information, as that term is defined under the CCPA.

Your California Privacy Rights

As a California resident, you have the right to request, subject to verification of your identity:

• Right to Know. You may request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources from which it was collected, the business or commercial purpose for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
• Right to Delete. You may request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions permitted by law (for example, information we are required to retain to comply with a legal obligation).
• Right to Correct. You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
• Right to Opt Out of Sale. As noted above, we do not sell personal information. Accordingly, no opt-out mechanism for the sale of personal information is currently offered.
• Right to Non-Discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights. We will not deny you services, charge you different prices, or provide you a different level of quality for exercising your rights under the CCPA.

How to Submit a Request

To submit a request to know, delete, or correct your personal information, please contact us by email at mike@obliviousinvestor.com. Please include sufficient information to allow us to reasonably verify that you are the person about whom we collected information (for example, the email address you used to subscribe). We will respond to verifiable requests within 45 days of receipt. If we require additional time (up to 90 days total), we will inform you in writing. We do not charge a fee to process a verifiable consumer request unless it is excessive or repetitive.

Authorized Agent

You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require written proof of the agent’s authorization and may verify your identity directly.

Do Not Track

California law requires us to disclose how we respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals. Because no uniform standard for recognizing and implementing such signals currently exists, the Site does not currently respond to them.
